For Micheal
So I don't think I've posted anything like this before but I wrote it a long time ago and came across it today. Just wanted to share it. It has not title. Lol!
Falling in love, right now falling looks hard
I need to find my way back to the start
Cos when we were in love, things were better than they are
Get me back into 'still in love with you'
I want to still be in love with you
I heard that people dream of the ones they love
And long to be held by them again
In my head I'm like 'it's all fantasy'
People are not meant to be in your life forever
But that was before I met you
Before I was held by you
Before I was loved by you
And I spoilt my shining; I ruined it
I pushed you away
For no just cause
And did not look in the direction you went
So that if ever I come back to my senses
I could trace your steps and find you
And then at this moment, soaked in my regrets
You're gone
Now I dream of you
And I want to be held by you
Again
So much to ask? I know now
Someone else has loved you
Someone else has backed up your dreams
Someone else has assured you of love forever
The same thing I did
And then the promise I broke
But in all, I love you
I know now that I do.
So yeah, that's it. I hope you like it.
Love,
Charis.

Name it whatever...
By Tyler Perry.
Yes, this is a long one but don’t act like you don’t have two minutes to read it. LOL.
I remember being a very young little boy going to visit my Grandmother. Everybody called her Aunt May. It was always a trip I enjoyed because she had the most interesting things around her house. She had things I had never seen before, like an old washing machine on the back porch where you fed clothes through the wringer. I got my hand caught in it one time; not a good feeling, lol. I also remember her wood stove and her outhouse. She didn’t have indoor plumbing at the time. When I would arrive there with my parents I would jump out of the car, run past the chickens, and up the old wooden steps into the old rundown 4 room house. It looked to be leaning from the outside, and on the inside, there was newspaper stuffed in the cracks of the wall. I loved the faces on the black and white comics hanging out of the walls. It made my heart happy, but my hands would get slapped if I pulled them out, especially in the winter. I didn’t know that was the insulation. The house had no heat.
In the front room of the house there was this very old man in a bed. His skin was like bronze, and to my little boy eyes, it looked like a million wrinkles ran through it. When he would open his eyes, I’d see that they were grey and faint. His name was Papa Rod. That’s all I knew about him until I was told that he was born a slave. Of course, I didn’t know what that meant at the time. I was too busy studying the quilt that was covering his body to pay attention, to tell you the truth. This quilt looked as if it had millions of colors and millions of patches to my little boy eyes. I thought to myself, “that is an ugly quilt? Why didn’t my Grandmother go to Kent’s or TG&Y (if you know these stores you’re telling your age, lol) and get a good quilt like my mamma had? What is this raggedy thing?” Later on that night, when we would go to bed, my Grandmother would bring lots of these homemade quilts that she had made from her old dresses and scraps and put them on the bed for us. I thought to myself, “all these quilts are ugly, they smell like mothballs, but my it sure is warm.”
When I was about 21 I decided to move away, and guess what, here came my mother giving me one of my Grandmother’s quilts. By then, I had an appreciation for the hard work that went into making it. So, I appreciated it, but I was still a bit embarrassed by it. I took the quilt with me to Atlanta. I not only used that quilt to keep me warm at night, especially when I was sleeping in my car, but I used it when I had to get on the ground to work on my car. Now don’t get me wrong, it was special to me because my Grandmother had made it, but when you’re in a struggle nothing has much value. So, I would use it for whatever and whenever I needed it. Most of the time it was thrown in the trunk for wrapping tools or thrown in the closet until I needed it.
Not long after I moved to Atlanta things got really bad. I remember coming home from work one day. I was behind on my rent, and the sheriff had evicted me and set all my things out on the street in the rain. I drove up shocked, and I got out of the car trying to get all the things of value that were left that my neighbors hadn’t picked through. In my mind, they had taken everything of value, but there on the ground was my Grandmother’s quilt. I used it as a bag. I put as many of my clothes in it that I could and stuffed it into the car and left. I went to a storage company and put what few things I had left in storage and started trying to find a place to live.
Stay with me. I’m going somewhere with this. A few months later, I couldn’t afford to pay the storage bill. So, I just let it go, losing everything in storage including the quilt.
Now, let me take you to my deeper point. A few years ago, I saw a familiar looking quilt. It looked just like the ones that my Grandmother had handmade. It brought back so many memories. I knew it wasn’t the same quilt, but I also knew that somebody’s grandmother or great-grandmother had made that quilt and I was embarrassed that they had taken such good care of it.
As I was studying the lines and the stitching I got a lump in my throat. It looked so much like my Grandmother’s work. What was so surprising to me was that the very quilt I thought was so ugly through my little boy eyes, as a man, I realized that I was looking at a masterpiece. I asked the curator about the quilt, and she started telling me the story. This woman, who no doubt didn’t know anything about my Grandmother, was telling me my history. She was describing my Grandmother’s quilt. She said it was made by an African American woman and that her family had kept it for years. All of the fabrics dated back to different times in history. There were patches from dresses and her rags from the civil war to the civil rights era. As I was taking it in, I had to ask her what it was worth. She told me that this quilt wasn’t for sale because the family didn’t want to sell it. They knew the value, but she said you could get a few of these limited and rare quilts with this kind of history for around twelve thousand to one hundred thousand dollars each. My jaw hit the floor. I was so embarrassed that I had this treasure in my house, in my possession, in my life, and I had treated it like a rag. What a lesson for us all.
It made me think about us as humans. We are so much more valuable than a material thing, but sometimes in life we have people in our lives that should be treated like treasures. Instead, we discard them and treat them like rags, like my Grandmother’s quilt. We only use them when we need to be warm or comforted. Like that quilt, we think they’re worthless until we need them, and like that quilt, it takes somebody else to point out their value to us after they are gone.
If you are like that quilt, and you are being treated like you don’t matter or being pushed aside and used only when you are needed, stop letting that happen to you. You are worth more than the people that created you know. My grandmother had no idea that one day her quilts would be worth millions. She had lots of them. She created it and didn’t know, which tells me that it’s possible for your parents not to know that you are a treasure. Like that quilt, you are beautiful in your patches, and it took all of those patches to make you whole and who you are. Each one of them represents something in your life that you’ve been through. Wear them with pride. Like that quilt and its thread, something held you together through it all. Like that quilt, even if the people that you give warmth to are not giving you the care you need, you still have value beyond what they know. Like that quilt, you are made from fabrics that have endured and seen more than most people could imagine and you’re still here. Like that quilt, if someone who is immature can’t appreciate your beauty, I’m sure a grown up will. Like that quilt, you are a treasure. Your story matters. I wish my Grandmother’s quilt would have come with a label telling me how special and valuable it was and would be. Then the young foolish man that I was would have known how to handle it, to treat it with care. But unlike that quilt, you have a voice. Use it. Start demanding that you are treated like the treasure that you are!
I love you,
God bless.

Fix them one by one!
Today
I had to take a failed course again for the first time and strangely it was
awesome. This was one of the many consequences of the mistakes I have made in
the past and up until today, I felt really terrible. All I could think of was
how was it going to turn out? I, at a point kept on focusing on how much I had
lost it that it blinded me to the solutions and the new dawn that I had.
But
then mistakes could be fixed, depends on how much you want them fixed. I know
that we have heard several times about the mistakes that people make that could
destroy their lives forever but with me I do not think it is so. It doesn’t
matter how late the change comes, we should be happy that it comes anyway. There
is always a fresh start, a new dawn, a new beginning entirely and only if you
would just grasp the change that is coming your way, you could re- write your
story. Every bad story is made up either the wrong combinations of things or a
collection of wrong ideas; it’s basically filled up with things that do not
work. Take these things one at a time. If you try to gulp them in all at once,
it will consume you.
It
does not matter what you think you’ve lost, the truth is if you keep pondering
on those things, the truth is you will be too distracted to know the exact time
that your change has arrived. Like I always say, let go of the past and embrace
the graceful future ahead of you even if it is a future of one day.

Kryptonites...
We all want to live beautiful lives. Ain't that right? Of course we all do want to live beautiful lives. But then whether we like it or not or whether we notice it or not, we do not just suddenly attract people, as a matter of fact, it is not YOU that makes you attractive but what makes YOU you! There are things that build us up and also things that bring us down. Now I do not know whether we know how it feels like to be deprived of our best desires and achievements we deserve because we have been naughty in our little or way large ways.
The super hero we all fell in love with when we were kids (Superman) cos of his undying desire to save lives, his strength and super abilities had one weakness called kryptonite. Kryptonite is a material from the Superman mythos, specifically the ore form of a radioactive element from Superman's home planet of Krypton. If you can remember, you will recall that once Superman is in his super saving mode and he comes in contact with this thing, it immediately saps his strength and he can fight no more. The sad part is that at that moment, Superman is on the same level as his enemy he was fighting against and it could happen several times as far as Kryptonite wasn't destroyed. It came to my knowledge even that one could use it for a girl or a guy that is thier weakness. Well that's not the point.
This is where I am headed. We could get soooo comfortable with our lives at some point to the extent that little things begin to sap our strength and for those who know God, begin to take you away from God. Until "kryptonites" in our lives are destroyed, every progress we think we make do not matter. It could be anger, hatred, lust, unforgiveness, jealousy, a girl or a guy maybe and on and on and on...You know these things that are not meant to be named with you...We might not realize how much they tell on us until its too late. I'm saying we all have kryptonites and its best if we identify them early and send them packing befor they destroy us..do this today!

The all about God syndrome!!!
If you are like my "past me", then you are yet to experience your best days. You know some of us grew up to see Christianity as sooo boring and definitely something we wanted to have nothing to do with. Well I did not, I don't know about you. At this point, you could be soo satisfied with your usual everyday, normal life though sometimes it could be the other way round, if not most times. this is when you notice addictions, sorrows, disappointments, low self- esteem and every other thing you struggle with. Think about them...they make you feel horrible.
But then, there is this one person that loves you too much even when you did not know he existed. Like your knowing even makes the difference cos' even though you know he exists, you still hang him on the shelf till probably when trouble knocks and you remember there is big and terrific God somewhere. This person is God...very indescribable I tell you..He's so big, so massive and at the same time so little that he lives inside even the tiniest baby in the world..so loving, so full of faith in you, he's got your back anythime..I really wish you desire to know this God cos' when I started, I realized that I do not even want to lose him. I love him and I want you to love him tooo.
It all starts from you recognizing first that he is and confessing that you love him. Cos trust me, until you realize life is all about him, it will never makes sense to you; why somethings happen? how life works? When you love a being, your heart is encompassed with the very things that make that person, smiles, words, warmth..but you have to know and decide that no matter what, its going to be all about God..

Choice(2)
Our freedom lies in our refusal to be bound. God has made a provision
for every void we’ve experienced and all harm we’ve survived.

Your choice!
The past few months for me have been times that really tried all that I have ever told you on this blog. Like really! I was left with no other choice than to be strong and to keep my head up high, be really brave and at the same time let all that I was going through teach me the lessons I needed to learn.
So many times I wished someone, definitely, not me would remind me of the diamond that I am and that all I was going through was just for a moment. There were times I felt I needed to disappear or probably not exist. There was pain and a lot of regrets. I thought I was a super woman already and i din't feel such again (laughs).
I'm at the point where I tell you that I made a choice proudly. I made a choice not to allow the hurt take over me. I decided to be soo strong even though every inner part of me was weak. I choice to shine through the pain and promise myself not to make such mistakes again. I decided to apply all that my heart break thought me like Sarah Jakes said. I learnt not to use my pain as an excuse or a dysfunction.
All am saying is that there would be hurt, disappointments, pain, regrets too sometimes. But whatever you decide to do with them determines how free you become in the midst of dealing with them. Make your pain serve you not otherwise. However it turns out though is your choice...

Change from within!
You might feel at the moment that you are too broken to be fixed, too messed up to be cleaned. But I assure you that you are more beautiful still than you think! It doesn't matter whether you can see it...just believe it!

Make it real...
You cant be genuinely misunderstood or fraudulently accepted but you cannot be everything to everyone. Not everyone is going to get you, not everyone is going to understand where you're coming from or the battles you have fought on your own. The truth is that they do not even care. Learn how to be okay with that. Dont push people to care, push yourself to produce results and they will eventually. The more in love you fall with yourself and who you are, the less acceptance you need from others. Growth is a part ot life and is inevitable but never just accept someone's criticsms without filtering it through your conviction. You'll have to answer to God for the life you lived. Make it honest, genuine, compassionate and REAL.

Prayer of Grace
A role model to me, Sarah Jakes wrote this.
Dear God,
It feels like life is constantly changing. I’m truly beginning to understand why so many cave in to the pressure of fitting in. Being different takes courage. It requires discipline. It challenges tradition. It’s much easier to blend in with all the others. It’s much safer to never try than to feel the risk of failure. I suppose that’s the beauty of falling in love with your scars. It taught me a valuable lesson. I survived. Survival makes the wise soul resilient, but the pain it requires scares too many from trying again. My life hasn’t been perfect. My past is far from it. I pray each day that my heart never loses the humility to yield to Your conviction. I ask for the strength to protect this heart from prejudice opinions. Curve my desire to be understood and instead give me the strength to love every soul You’ve created, especially my own. Erase my comfort and destroy any loyalty that doesn’t sharpen my vision. I desire nothing more than to serve my life, imperfect as it may be, for Your glory. Hasten me, challenge me, guide me, and I’ll stay close to You. If it hurts me now it’s only so You can heal me later. I’ll till the soil of my heart until it’s completely open to receive Your instruction. I have the faith to trust you and the courage to be still while You transform me.

The new path!
At this point that i am, I can tell you comfortably that you have been searching for love in the wrong places which harmed you. Of course...its alright. You know why? God made you original and you cannot keep making yourself comfortable in the background, in your pain and hurt and bitterness. The journey has not been, is not easy and I cannot guarantee you that it always will be. I can only guarantee you that you will come out of it if you want to. I want you to know that life is a series of the decisions you make and except you accept the responsibility of where you are, there wont be change. I said it earlier that God made you original, he made you perfect so there is absolutely nothing that is wrong with you. You are wrong with yourself. If you have given your personal power and will away, it is definitely time for you to take it back. Stop sharing your story and pain because of the pity party that you want to get from those who do not mean it. Stop talking about what you dont want but what you want. Ask yourself, what are you saying? Are you saying to yourself things that you know you are right now or things you are going to be which is victorious, amazing, beautiful and not hurt, bruised, battered? What are you saying?
In life there would be moments where you feel lost but those moments are moments to grow you and the next thing you notice is the FOUND moments. There are many ways to win. You can start with getting in the driver's seat of your life and be in control. Do you need to be empowered?
Pray this along with me
"Dear Lord, i am now ready to be prepared for your very own plans of my tommorow. Strengthen me beyond my comfort zone and make me see that your love for me is unconditional and is able to turn me into anything. Amen."
What are you dealing with? You are not going through that for no just cause. I pray that you find the purpose of your situation and more importantly that you find GRACE.

FREE!
There was a time in my life I thought that God had thrown me
away. I always knew that God was invisible but I still couldn’t see him, I
couldn’t feel him. I had made progress with him before so it was easy for me to
quickly realize that I was at a standstill. I no longer had that joy that
everyone could see and partake of in my spirit. All through this period, I
really did not have any emotion. I felt so empty; I
wasn’t happy, I wasn’t sad, I was nothing. My mind was spinning but I couldn’t
feel anything. It was like I felt alone with lots of people around me. I could
feel myself drowning and I could do just nothing about it. I cried myself to
sleep several times. I loved the old me, not this present one I couldn’t even
define. What I knew was that I needed love, I craved attention, I needed to be
held and be encouraged. Nothing at that point seemed to matter to me. I knew or
I can say now that I thought I was alone. I had gone far away from God.
For weeks, I couldn’t find the right person to talk to. And
through those days, all I could remember were my wrongs, the negative. All my
achievements and happy endings seemed to disappear. Everyone that had ever
seemed or was a mentor to me, all of a sudden were unapproachable. And so I
kept sinking. I thought about the days that were still ahead of me with so many
fears in my heart. How was I going to live sin free? How was I going to keep
living right when at this age, I feel like this?
I have heard countless times that we as young people are at
the stage where we just want to do a lot of things. Whether wrong or bad, we
are prone to yielding completely to our feelings, emotions and desires. As young
people, we are at a stage where you would naturally do some things that are not
wrong per say and will condemn yourself for it when you realize that it is not
the best or when it has put you in almost destroying position. I said they are
not wrong because we just always want to be free, not to be told not to do
something that we want to so badly or whatever we want to get involved in.
Especially when we have a lot of voices in our heads saying; “do this, be
this”. There are too many “ought to’s”, “should’s”, “you’d better’s” piled on
top of what we want to do or what we want to be. To us, it is that those ahead
of us expect us to do far more than we think we can. I knew these but during
these moments, I just did not feel right and could not apply all the things I
have heard.
I was at home one day when I remembered the exact words of a
mentor. He said “create your future from your future not your future from your
past”. When I thought about this, I realized that whatever is in the past is
not qualified to be in the future. Even the Most High God, our father doesn’t
condemn us when we do wrong things. He does not remember our wrongs at all,
what a caring and loving father. I decided to drop the memories of all the
wrongs I had ever done and how they made me feel. It doesn’t matter how much I
do, it has already been forgiven. We have to live a life free of condemnations
and criticisms. Your greatest condemner is YOU.
So drop the memories of the past, take the lessons and move
forward. Just because the past taps you behind doesn’t mean you should look
back. I realized that I was punishing myself for no just cause. I kept piling
up my wrongs. But these were the words that brought soothing to my soul. You
might not have it in mind to do wrong every time, you just find yourself doing
it bot concentrating on the evil things you are doing will never help you do
the good things that you desire to do.
It is okay that we have a lot of desires. Jonathan Martenson once said “feelings
are like waves, you can’t control them but you can choose which one to surf”. Feelings
are there all the time. We all have emotions and we never know when they will
show up or go away but we don’t have to let them rule us. You discover that in
a day, you have hundreds of emotions. If you find yourself in a mess, probably
you have behaved wrongly or you don’t like the things you do, feeling sorry for
yourself is not the way out.
The next time you have a desire, weigh the advantages and
disadvantages on a scale in your mind. You might never know. You just discover
that it has more disadvantages than advantages. Whenever you have a desire you
are not sure about, answer these three questions concerning it.What do you
want, why do you want it and how badly do you want it? I believe that these
three questions will guide you in a way in determining how good whatever you
want to do is or bad it is. If you find yourself doing the wrong thing, you
have not been self- conscious, you have not been God conscious. Make a decision
today to live your life by decision not emotion; that way you can be rest
assured that you remain free.

Almost!
These two entirely different words put together define our lives
Our lives are shaped by the outcome of the meanness of this word
ALMOST!!
We almost say the important things
We almost do the important things
The almost life we live moves us to an almost destroying position
Guys, you don't mind dating almost prostitutes
Ladies, you don't mind dating almost gays
Ladies you do everything with so much casuality
The third time you almost had a baby
We almost tell God we're wiser,
When he offers us water and we say "God, this is such good sand"
We almost act like babies when we do the wrong hings with so much innocence
Some of us are almost christians
Cos we almost love God
Why don't we leave all the "almosts" out and start living life the most
Cos trust me, if it wasn't for Jesus, we would have almost got paid!

Selfies!
According to my
understanding of this strange word that emerged from somewhere into even the
English Dictionary, a selfie is simply a personal picture taken by you. No one
needs to picture you, you picture yourself. One amazing thing about a selfie is
that you can see or decide on how you want it to be. You see how you look like
by yourself. Everyone likes to take selfies. Wee I think its cos you are
responsible for however it turns out. That means that there wont be enough time
for you to blame it on the person that took you the picture.
It is when you see a
selfie that you took that you discover some things that you might consider
strange. It is then you discover you have a pimple or that your nose is not as
big as your best friend said it was. Also, you could see that what you saw in
your last selfie was gone. What I am trying to say is that I am sure that no
matter how many selfies you take and when you take them, they never look the
same, no matter how minimal, which means that you are never at the same spot;
something no matter what it is changes about you. The same way you were
yesterday is not the same way you are today. You could take a selfie today, all
happy because you got a new dress. And you could take another one tomorrow, sad
that you did not pass an exam. A selfie never remains the same.
The circumstances may
be the same but something has definitely changed about you. Hours were added to
your life. It might be hard to see something positive when it is like 99%
negative. But just like you always want to see a beautiful selfie, see how
beautiful you are, how beautiful things are, how beautiful your future is. You
should have a mental image of what you want to see after the last selfie. We
all know how we feel when we take a “not so fine” selfie not even a terrible
selfie. We are always quick to press delete. We are determined that the next
one we take , our heads are going to be positioned this way, we are going to
make our cheeks seem fatter than they look and on and on. If the last time you
checked yourself, you did not like something, you were satisfied with how you
have been acting or how you have made things to be, be quick to press delete
and make the next one good. Let me remind us that we are one of our greatest
fans. No one can praise or criticize you more than yourself.
Be determined to make
your next selfie better than the last one. It could only get better if you want
it to though. No matter what, make sure you never stop taking selfies!.
